Female Directors Lab

A two-phased project development and mentorship program for independent Canadian producers prepping genre or high concept narrative feature projects.

Six Directors from across Ghana are invited to participate in the ANCIFF’S Directors film Lab, which prepares them to rework, pitch, market and sell their creative content while also being immersed in business opportunities at the festival.

Focused on strengthening genre or high concept narrative feature projects through a Director Mentorship, the program is intended to advance a Director’s feature project at the polish and packaging phase of development by facilitating a one on one relationship with an experienced Executive Director. This relationship is designed to attract investment opportunities as well as assist in securing meaningful market strategies and attachments.

Both phases of the Directors Lab include roundtable, one-on-one meetings and interactive sessions with industry mentors and experts, with scheduled market meetings taking place during the Anciff Film Festival + Content Summit. Selected Directors will receive individual and project-specific feedback through a series of one-on-one sessions with advisors, as well as group sessions in order to strengthen their ability to position their project for investment.

During Phase II, Directors Lab attendees will participate in the Power Pitch Workshop, and a select few will be selected to participate in the Power Pitch Competition and pitch their projects to some of the world’s top sales agents for motion pictures, and compete for a prize package worth over GH4,000.
